B2B Landing Page Optimization Help: Why a Fresh Pair of Eyes Can Increase Leads & Sales

Your landing page is as critical to the success of your online marketing efforts as keywords. For, they are the first place prospects “land” when they click on your ads. Now that you’ve done all the hard work of getting them to click through, following is one thing you can do to make sure they take the action you want them to take.

Often landing pages are conceived, written, proofed and studied by professional internet marketers – or fellow comrades (eg, a copywriter). We point this out to say, it not likely to be looked at by someone who doesn’t know anything about landing pages. Hence, it doesn’t get the “fresh eye, first look” perspective it may need to be improved.

One thing you should always do is get someone who doesn’t know anything about internet marketing, or at the very least someone who had no input in designing the landing page, to look at it and give feedback.

You may be pleasantly surprised by what you’ll discover, ie:

How a concept you thought was clear was in fact very confusing;

How the action you thought you were asking a prospect to take was not very clear (or was too involved/intrusive);

What was left out that you thought was implicitly understood;

Etc. 

Remember, your landing page should be written from the point of view of your visitors. Too often in internet marketing, knowledge you think your prospects will have is something they simply don’t possess. This is because internet marketing is a fairly new phenomenon.

If you spend your days discussing click through rates (CTRs), conversions and calls to action statements, then it’s second nature to you. But your prospects may not have this type of knowledge; hence, a lot of what you have to say may be a foreign language to them.

Recognize this, and optimize your landing pages so that they’re crystal clear – and your prospects can take the action(s) u want/expect them to take.

How to Use Long- & Short-Tail Keywords to Gain a Competitive Edge in Pay Per Click

How would you like to have less competition, and at the same time lower the cost of your Google pay per click campaigns?

Google Pay Per Click Marketing: The Old Way

If you follow what everyone else is doing (eg, bidding on the same keywords), you will most likely get the same results. But, it may cost you more and if you can’t afford it, then you have to drop out of the game.

Google Pay Per Click Marketing: The New Way

In order to get different (ie, better) results – without breaking the bank – it’s time to try something new. Following is a plan for getting better results.

1. Go for Long-Tail Keywords: Instead of bidding on the same keywords as everyone else, bid on long tail keywords. You’ll most likely have less competition for these keywords, which mean they cost less. But, the brilliance in bidding on these keywords is that they can convert better than shorter, more popular phrases that all of your competitors are bidding on.

The reason is, when web surfers are serious about purchasing, they tend to get very specific (ie, use more words) to find what they’re looking for.

2. Optimize Landing Page with Original Keywords: Optimize your landing page using the shorter, competitive keywords everyone else is bidding on.

By “double dipping” in the long-tail and short-tail keyword waters like this, you gain traffic from organic searches, as well as higher-converting, lower-cost traffic from your Google PPC marketing efforts.

Achieve Google AdWords Success in 3 Easy Steps

It’s not hard to make money with Google AdWords, but many fail to do so because they make it more complicated than it needs to be.

Keep it simple by doing the following:

Decide On Your Offer: Putting together a successful AdWords campaign starts NOT with keywords, but with your offer. Why? Because you have to be very clear about this before you move on to selecting your keywords.

For example, if you operated an online bookstore, do you want to send readers to the romance section, the science fiction section or the history section? “But,” you may be thinking, “I don’t care what they buy, as long as they buy something.”

We counter with, in order to get browsers to “buy something,” you have to first get them interested in “buying what interests them.” And, this is where you get specific.

Think of it like a local bookstore they may wander into. A reader may pop in to buy a specific book, but once there, they start to browse and come out with two, three or four things.

The bottom line here is – web surfers don’t care about making a purchase from you. What they do care about is getting that book that their friend, mother, aunt, etc. recommended.

If your specific pay per click ad landed them in your online store, you have a chance of making that sale.
Use Keywords Effectively: Once you have tightly focused your offer, now you can move on to doing effective keyword research. Here again, be specific. When choosing keywords remember, it’s not about how much traffic a keyword will bring, but how much “qualified” traffic it will bring.

Rock the Landing Page! Round out your campaign by having a clear, concise, professional landing page that gets prospects where they want to be. Don’t make them surf to find what your ad promised. Land them there directly.

If you do these three things, you will be well on your way to Google AdWords campaign success.
